Welcome to the Brattleboro Contra Dance!
The Brattleboro contra dance is a twice monthly dance party featuring live music, excellent calling, and a lively group of friendly dancers. We feature talented performers from Brattleboro and the surrounding areas, where we are fortunate to live amongst some of the best dance musicians and callers in the country. We welcome new and experienced dancers and dancers of all ages. No experience is necessary, all dances are taught and called, and you don’t need to come with a partner. We’ll see you there!
The dance takes place in the Stone Church at the corner of Main and Grove Streets, just north of the post office in downtown Brattleboro, VT. The Stone Church features a lovely wooden dance floor and excellent acoustics in a convenient location.
Time, Shoes, etc.
The dance starts with a workshop for beginners at 6:45 and continues with dancing for all from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Admission is $10. Beginners are welcome; all the dances will be taught. You don’t need to come with a partner; other friendly dancers will dance with you. Please bring a pair of clean, soft-soled, non-street shoes for dancing. This will help to protect the old wood floor and keep the hall clean. Please change your shoes in the front hall before entering the dance space. Thanks!
The Brattleboro Dance is organized by a group of local volunteers including Peter Siegel, Erich Kruger, and Bre Ginty. If you have questions about the dance or want more information you can email Peter or call 413-320-2729. www.petersiegel.com
We welcome musicians to hang out and play tunes together at a slow, informal jam session before every dance. All instruments and skill levels are welcome starting at 5:30 PM and going until around 6:30.
